Altered Mermaid

For Therese. So this is how Therese's mermaid looks now. She was all cream before. I should of taken a picture of it before I spray painted it all black. And I probably should of taken a picture of that as well.
Therese wanted this mermaid figurine painted to coordinate better with a framed print she has of a sea turtle on her boat. So I hope she likes how she has turned out. We've been playing phone tag for about a week now. I know she has been busy with getting the boat ready for the summer with her husband, continuing therapy on her arm and taking care of her Mom.
So either we'll see each other first or she'll see this blog first.

What A Wonderful Weekend

Well, it has been a whirl wind weekend actually. I thought I would be home by 9 PM tonight but we just got home around 10 PM. After Service this morning we took the visiting Elder and his family out to lunch. Then ran home to get ready for a graduation open house party. Great food great fun. Some signed up to sing Karaoke (not me) and dancing. Today is our 9Th Anniversary. We knew there was no way we would be able to do anything special with all the other activities we wanted to do. So we celebrated yesterday. Keeping it very simple a dinner and a movie. Actually we went to the movie first. We went to see Star Trek. We really enjoyed this movie. My hands were sweating most of the time. We hadn't been to the movies since King Kong and our car was broken into. Then my DH took me to one of our favorite restaurants called Castaways. Looks out onto Lake Nepesing. We had an amazing dinner and we went home very content and happy. On Friday evening we went to Applebee's for dinner. You could say we started early celebrating since friends of ours had surprised us last week by giving us an early anniversary present with a card and a gift card enclosed to...you guessed it Applebee's. Yeah A no cooking weekend.

Dream in Color

Dorothy and I made a ribbon flowers yesterday. After we had them assembled we could see that the centers needed something. She got out a box of miscellaneous jewelry bits where we found the perfect centers for our flowers. They were just the right pieces of bling. Thanks Dorothy. We had too much fun making these little cuties.

Today it was a slow morning getting started so I thought I'd make a digital something. I blocked off an hours worth of time. Since I had a bridal shower to go to in a few hours and I needed time to get ready for that. So I scanned the ribbon flower I made yesterday into my computer and cleared off the bacground. Now they are her earrings in this digital collage. Other digital collage images are from Art-e-ology and Itkupilli.
I didn't have my glasses on and I see I have to go make and clean up the image.

Simple CD Tin

Some times I have a hard time keeping things simple...to do a project that I can finish in an hour would be fantastic. Either I am really slow or I'm really really slow. But today from start to finish this little project was relatively quick. I didn't over think it. But tomorrow is another day and I just may want to do a few more little things. Trickiest part was scanning this thing. Does anyone know if this is an actress and who it might me? I don't. Just curious. Also this photo image was enhanced by someone other than me.

Digi Maries

Played with the collage sheet last night. from Itkupilli's digital collage give away. http://itkupilli.blogspot.com/
Thank You so much Itkupilli.

A Sweet Little Girl

This assemblage was created using one of Moss Hill Studio's sweet little girl images and a brayer paint technique to alter the background paper. I think my favorite part of this was using the brayer technique. But I do like incorporating the moss, twigs and flowers to this piece aswell. I'm not claiming this to be an original assemblage design concept of mine. That would be another artist out there who came up with this layout. Perhaps it was one of the ladies from the Moss Hill design team....I'm sorry I just don't remember. But I want to thank her for the inspiration just the same.

Saturday's Project

I had a lot of fun covering and altering this album. Nance from Her Art Nest gifted us in the Art Group with these lovely 10 x 10 albums at our meeting this past Saturday. As well as some silk flowers that she put in clear container, accented with a tag and some blue sheer ribbon. The ribbon went with the colors of the paper I had selected for this afternoon project. So I cut it up and added it to ring binding. Kim Baslock who was our host for the Art Group meeting this month gifted us all with a crocheted doilie and decorative jeweled brads. Which I used in the center of the flowers but have yet to attach them. And she treated us to a sloppy joe lunch and yummy sweet treats.

May Flowers

ATC Swap. This is what I will be swapping for our flower themed ATC swap for the Art Group meeting this Saturday. I recycled left over Matt board from framing jobs. Cut down to the ATC size. Painted it with daubers them Stamped on a Catherine Moore stamp image. Used a little bit of colored pencil on the faces and arms. Accented it with glitter. Used Magenta's gold sticker trim. Vine ribbon and paper flower embellishments. Rub-ons, K & Co. grand adhesion word stickers, edged with metallic gold marker and an epoxy circle on the face. Sorry the picture are less than wonderful.

Marie

This is the beginning stage of a paper art Marie using the digital collage sheet from Itkupilli's digital collage give away. http://itkupilli.blogspot.com/ Thank You so much Itkupilli. I will add a photo to this post of any changes. The gold cardboard frame was a gift from Vikki Light from our last art group meeting. Thanks Vikki.
Now I'm off to embellish.

UPDATE: OK now It's bling-a-licious

A Fun Project

Inspired from the book Altered Art projects. This was created by doing a little recycling of an old cloth covered button, box that was painted and aged up a bit, cereal box cut to reinforce the images, dropped fabrics and a page from an old book and some new items like the wood feet and ribbon. Deb found the images of our ladies and provided the page from an old book. Stamped the corners and there you go. So what do you do when you like a face of one image but the dress of another. You merge them...the only thing is after I did that...then I thought of looking at the shadows on the neck and face. You can see it's not quit right. Anyway this was a very fun project!

All Done And Ready To Go.

I just completed making the corsages and boutonnieres
I was asked to make for the gathering we'll be going to
later this month. I did these at no charge.
Today I decided the boutonniers needed to be wrapped with ribbon. So I did that. Then I thought it might be nice if they were personally labeled and bagged with an accent of ribbon. I started to think of how would I carry them in. Then I thought they might look nice if they were presented in this gold basket wrapped with the same ribbon that
I have accented the packages with.
