ABS Challenge for August

This is the inspiration for this Months ABS challenge
We were encouraged to stick close to the palate.
To use the bright red, purplish red, and dark yellow sparingly.
I dug through my stash to see if I could play along
and this is what I came up with.
My art bead is a Kylie Parry Ceramic leaf.
Which echos the leaves in the painting.
I don't think the Unicorn bead counts as an art bead..
but it was a good time to use it.

Earrings Everyday- August Challenge

Amazing thread sculptures by the talented artist Gabriel Dawe.
Here is just one of the many images we had for
our August Inspiration
The prism rainbow with string is brilliant!
This is what I created....
Mimicking many of the colors.
Made my own ear wires this time.
Why not check out the other participants
and see what they came up with for the
Earrings Everyday August Challenge.

Golem ~ Spring Garden

I went on a mad hunt for these Mustard beads.
A friend of mine that had
purchased a necklace but needed earring to match.

Vintage 1960s Hard Plastic Beads Orange Ovals and Mustard Yellow Round beads

Vintage Hard Plastic beads from the 1960's
Purchased form ETSY  owner - Wool Mountain Destash

The mustard beads came with these
tangerine orange oval beads.
I had not choice. I had to get them.
The mustard beads were just too perfect for my friend.
I'll admit I'm not a big fan of the plastic
but they were Vintage.
and I didn't have the heart to through them away.
So out of her stash into mine they went.

As it turned out the oranges were a perfect match
for these Spring Garden beads
by Golem Studios.
I like the scale of the beads together.
I'm so glad I held onto them.
They worked out nicely for this bracelet
and earrings.
Definitely something to wear for
Spring or Summer.

Sunrise Surprise

On my Table for weeks... finally assembled it last night.
Fun lampwork beads my Mom sent me
from Goody Beads, tangerine colored crystals and
Swarovski fire opal bicones.
Silver plated metal spacers and toggle.
And then added some misc coordinating
beads for the dangles.

A gift for Maddie

I thought this would be a lovely gift for my niece,
Madelyn.
Who I hadn't seen in over 10 years.
Life can sure can get in the way sometimes.
So I asked myself...
Will she like it? Is it her taste?
I really have no idea.
We (Chip and I) took her out for lunch and
caught up on all the latest.
Her new job, her new boyfriend...etc.
It was a really nice visit.
After opening her gift she immediately
took off her earrings and put on the ones I made.
And then she tried on the necklace too.
She mentioned anything silver would be a good choice.
Hard to express how happy it made me.
How nice to be able to say
she has grown into a very
lovely young lady.

Ammonite Fossil Necklace

Happy Mango Beads is currently having a sale on their
Ammonite Fossil pendants.
Which got me to thinking of the one I have had in my stash
like forever.
Before I get more I need to use what I have.
So I got to creating.
Laying out potential beads I'd like to use.
Should it be short or long? One strand or multiple stands?
A single strand seemed to light and a triple stand too much.
Tomorrow I may think differently.
I ended up using these beads...
Magnesite, Picture Jasper, Wooden Agate,
and Glass O-rings for a little metallic accent.
I also used waxed Irish linen cord and did some hand knotting.
I really like the length.
Not quite a choker and it lays nicely on the chest.
Simple and easy.
