Craft Hope for Haiti

I've been seeing this "Craft Hope for Haiti"

on several of the blogs I follow.

Another way to help with the many needs of the people in Haiti.

It is a shop on Etsy called "crafthope"

They are helping raise money for the millions of people effected by the earthquake.

Today I see there was another earth quake measuring 6.1

Only 35 miles from the original epicenter of the first quake.

Like many people my husband and I have made a donation already

to an organization we trust..

And have received reports that tons of food has been sent in and

make shift medical facilities have been set up to help those affected.
I thought why not do this too.

100% of the money raised will be going to "doctors without borders"

(minus the Etsy fees)

In the first 24 hours, the Craft Hope for Haiti Etsy shop

has had 162 sales and raised just around $4,000.

They had this idea that they’d maybe get to $5,000 eventually.

They got there by yesterday at noon.

As of now, they’re rapidly approaching the $10,000 mark.

Amazing.

I am donating this original 7x9 hand crafted plaque for $20.

I love what the plaque says. I think it is fitting

to remember how quickly things can change for any of us.

I think we all would just long for the simple pleasures of home.

Ties That Bind is an art doll project to help raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fun(OCRF). It's a collaborative project with the help of almost 100 amazing artists. Their goal is to raise $10,000 dollars by the end of September which is Ovarian Cancer Month.

The Ties That Bind Doll

Their Mission Statement
Our mission is simple in concept. Artists united in their creativity to benefit Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Our project: Ties That Bind. A hand made doll created with heart and soul, donning hand embellished men's dress ties and hand born charms. 100% of the profit goes to the OCRF, in support of their mission to help ovarian cancer patients and their loved ones.

Jan Brown did an amazing job in creating this art doll from every one's contributions. Aileen Roberts kept us all up to date with the pictures of items submmitted on the Ties That Bind blog. Kris Henderson did behind the scenes work that took time and effort. We either submitted charms or an altered tie. I understand the T-T-B Doll is on her way to the publishers to have a photo shoot. I will definitely want to pick up that issue.

What's T-T-B you ask? Ties That Bind. Well, I have to say I had no idea until yesterday. Some of you may know that I live under a rock. So my artistic friend Deb mentioned to me that she was sending in charms for an auction to raise money for ovarian cancer research.

I immediately thought ..I want to do that too. So I signed up and made two charms yesterday. I've picture one.

How wonderful would it be to find a cure for these different types of cancers. The list of our loved ones that have been affected by cancer is increasingly staggering. Some are casualties of cancer but thankfully more and more these days many are getting to be survivors. Thanks in part to more awareness and efforts like this one.
